The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) will host a joint convention in Islamabad on January 5, 2014 in a bid to promote interfaith harmony in the country.
Addressing a press conference along with SIC Chairman Hamid Raza on Friday, MWM General-Secretary Allama Nasir Abbas said that it was the government’s responsibility to implement a proposed policy on religious harmony.
“Shias and Sunnis established Pakistan through joint efforts and now they will save the country,” he said.
Abbas said that next Eid Miladun Nabi processions would be jointly taken out in the country.
Raza said that the state had failed completely. The government, he said, was befooling the people in the name of talks with the Taliban.
“Time has come that the government should establish its writ against terrorists,” he added.
