The 6th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was observed on Friday with great reverence, fervour and solemnity.
People across the country prayed for the departed soul. They paid rich tributes to Benazir Bhutto for her services for the poor and downtrodden people and for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and restoration of democracy in the country.
The main function was held at Garhi Khuda Bukhsh. On the occasion, Quran khawani was also held at her mausoleum. Former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari, Patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the AJK president and prime Minister, the Gilgit Baltistan governor and chief minister, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Senate Chairman Nayyar Bukhari, Senator Rehman Malik, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Naveed Qamar, Khursheed Shah, Manzoor Wattoo, Agha Siraj Durrani, senators and provincial ministers also visited the graves of slain PPP chairwoman Benazir Bhutto, founder chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and others. They placed a floral wreath at the graves and prayed. The central leaders, leaders and workers of PPP from all over the country were also among those who placed floral wreaths and prayed.
Members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Federal Council of the party also visited the graves of Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. They also visited the grave of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto. The AJK PPP president, central leaders and workers from AJK also visited the graves of ZAB and BB, laid floral wreaths and prayed.
The central leaders, leaders and workers of PPP from all over the country, including Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkwa and AJK were also among those who placed floral wreaths and prayed for the departed souls in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
Workers and leaders of sister organisations of PPP besides Bhutto’s admirers also arrived Garhi Khuda Bakhsh from all over the country, laid floral wreaths and prayed at the grave of their leader.
Caravans of peoples started reaching the place since Thursday evening to participate in the death anniversary rally and started dispersing after the rally was over.
The anniversary programme started with a mushaira (poetic symposium). Prominent poets from Sindh, Punjab and other parts of the country, paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto.
PPP Patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Syed Mehdi Shah and other senior leaders of PPP addressed a public meeting outside the mausoleum of Benazir Bhutto to pay homage to her services for the country, the democratic order and the rights of the people.
They reiterated their pledge to carry forward the mission for which Benazir Bhutto laid down her life. They also paid rich tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto of her great sacrifice only for the survival of the poor people. They added that the government was established due to sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto and will work for the betterment of poor people in the country.

Bhutto on her sixth death anniversary at 5:20pm at a public meeting at Garhi Khuda Bukhsh.
