Mortar shell defused in Quetta

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Wednesday defused a mortar shell weighing eight kilogrammes in Quetta, according to a private TV channel.
Police sources said area residents found the shell connected to a detonator in a skip on Saeed Ahmed Khan Road. Security personnel were informed of the explosives, after which the BDS was called in to disarm the bomb.
Traffic was suspended during the defusing of the shell.
Separately, eight coal miners were kidnapped from Harnai District in Balochistan, according to a news report.
According to report, dozens of armed men abducted the coal miners from Shahrag area of Harnai district. The miners belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had been working in the mines for more than a decade.
Security forces have launched a search operation to recover the kidnapped workers.
No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions as yet. Last year, seven abducted coal miners were found dead in Quetta.
