Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman (VC) Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that state machinery and development funds were being used and reshuffling of high officials was carried out for rigging local bodies’ election in Punjab.
Talking to reporters, Shah Mehmood Qureshi blamed that development funds of billions of rupee were disbursed among the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) members of National and provincial assembly to pave the way for “transparent’ rigging in LB polls.
He said the PML-N has adversely violated the LB election code of conduct and it used every tactic to level ground for success in polls.
Qureshi said that purpose of disbursing development funds among the PML-N MNAs and MPAs soon after announcement of LB polls was aimed at supporting party candidates and horse trading to achieve success in every possible manner.
The PTI leader warned that rigging in LB election will result in toxicity in politics of country which will have negative impacts.
He said that if Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to stop rigging in LB polls it would harm the credibility of commission which was already facing criticism for its role in general election.
Qureshi said the PTI does not want confrontation and chaos, but would oppose action replay of May 11, from all platforms.
He congratulated the nation on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday and said the PTI was following the philosophy of the father of the nation to make the country strong and prosperous.
