Tens of thousands of military troops are being deployed across Bangladesh on Thursday in an attempt to prevent political violence ahead of the elections scheduled in January next year.
The general elections are being boycotted by the opposition.
Troops are being sent to every part of the country to ensure the January 5 elections go ahead without hindrances.

Spokesman of Election Commission Asaduzzaman has said that deployment of troops will take place at at least 59 of the 64 districts of the country,
“They´ll be used as a striking force if there is any violence and they will patrol important areas, streets and highways,” he told the agencies.
