PPP plays chairman card, Bilawal to contest from NA-204

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) MNA from NA-204 Ayaz Soomoro has tendered his resignation to the party leadership on Thursday, paving the way for party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto to contest by polls.

According to sources, PPP has decided to float their young Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in the parliamentary politics of the country.

Bilawal Bhutto will contest election from the National Assembly constituency NA-204 in Larkana.

Incumbent lawmaker from the constituency and former Sindh law minister Ayaz Soomro has submitted his resignation from the National Assembly seat to the party to create vacancy for Bilawal.

NA-204 has a symbolic importance because Pakistan’s iconic former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had contested election and won the seat twice. Later Begum Nusrat Bhutto had scored election victories from the same constituency.

Incumbent MNA Ayaz Soomro has submitted his resignation to the party leadership and likely to be made Chief Minister of Sindh’s Advisor for law, the party sources said.

Ayaz Soomora has said that he has submitted his resignation from the parliament seat to the party’s leadership a month ago.
