Sindh Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain on Wednesday suspended seven food inspectors over misappropriation charges.
Talking to reporters, the food inspector said that the seven food inspectors, found guilty of corruption, were removed from their posts.
He said that cases of the suspended corrupt officials have been referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and anti-corruption department.
Jam Mehtab said that investigation against a deputy director, a district food controller and 23 food inspectors allegedly involved in corruption, was underway.
The provincial minister claimed to have recovered Rs 40 million out of the total of Rs 6.6 billion that was plundered of the food ministry, while efforts were underway to recover the rest as well.
