At least three persons were killed and twenty were injured in four blasts occurred in two different locations in Karachi on Tuesday.
The first blast occurred near Numaish Chowrangi at M A Jinnah road but no causalities occurred. Initial reports suggested the explosive was planted in a roadside pole, apparently detonated using a remote controlled device.
However, in the second incident, twin blasts rocked the Orangi Town No. 10 area. The blasts occurred near Immambargah Kausar killing three people and injuring at least 20 people including Rescue workers. The law enforcers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area for collecting evidences and also launched a search operation. The injured were shifted to AbbasiShaheedHospital.
According to initial reports, the explosives were kept in a pipe of a billboard. A destroyed mobile phone was also found from the place.
In the fourth incident occurred at a park in Kasbah Colony where a cracker blast injured three people including two children.
The police and Rangers further beefed up the security of Chehlum processions across the city.
Speaking to media, Karachi Additional Inspector General Shahid Hayat said that the explosions are with the motive of harassing and discouraging.
The city is already on high alert on the occasion of chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, however, more security personnel have been deployed in the wake of four explosions.
