Asian markets rise after dollar inches higher

Japan’s benchmark stock index hit a six-year closing high on Tuesday, helping prop up global equities, while the U.S. dollar inched higher, and some traders saw world stock markets extending their 2013 rally into next year.

Asian stock markets witnessed a rise on Tuesday, where Tokyo’s Nikkei rose 0.1 percent to reach its highest closing level in six years.

Shanghai ended 0.15 per cent higher, advancing 3.20 points to 2,092.91.

Hong Kong rose from 257.99 points to 23,179.55 (1.13 per cent), Sydney closed at 35.3 points, higher at 5,327.2 (0.67 per cent) or and Seoul closed adding 4.70 points to 2,001.59.
