National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has cleared its chairman Chaudhry Qamar Zaman on the allegation that he influenced in an inquiry into the NICL scam.
During a meeting of the executive board of the NAB chaired by acting chairman Saeed Ahmed Sargana, an inquiry report was presented which clearly stated that Qamar Zaman, being the interior secretary had neither exerted any pressure on the FIA Investigating Officer Zafar Qureshi conducting an inquiry into the NICL scam, nor placed any hurdle in the inquiry.
The report further said that Qamar had not only provided fool-proof security to the investigating officer but also set aside the directives to suspend or remove him from holding the inquiry.
The inquiry report also included the statement of Zafar Qureshi which stated that Qamar, instead of exerting any pressure on him, had undoubtedly defended him during the inquiry.
