A project of introducing special local transport for women has been prepared to facilitate female students and working women of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Initially, 12 buses will ply on different routes of the twin cities under the project named ‘Pink Ride Project’ and more buses will be added to the fleet if the project proved to be successful.
A private firm has been hired to complete home work and planning, and national and international organisations have been asked for their cooperation.
A meeting of Regional Transport Authority was held to discuss the project, which was presided over by DCO Sajid Zafar. The DCO directed the concerned officials to expedite the work on the project. He also directed the officials to review inclusion of special persons in the transport project.
