Security has been tightened across the country for Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
The security plans for the occasion have been completed. Cellular service will be suspended whereas pillion riding will also be banned on the day in several cities of the country.
According to officials, In Islamabad alone 3,000 security personnel will perform their duties and the law enforcement agencies (LAEs) have been put on high alert. Commandoes have been deployed at two sensitive imambargahs of the metropolis.
Police will carry out joint patrolling in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the first time.
He said CCTV cameras have been placed at routes of the mourning processions in the city of Multan. The Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations said that any terrorist activity cannot be ruled out despite the arrest of a terrorist earlier.
In the province of Sindh, cellular services will be blocked in the cities of Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur and Larkan for Chehlum whereas pillion riding will also be banned in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Sukkur and Larkana on 23rd and 24th December. Exhibition of arms will be banned.
Furthermore, the routes of the mourning processions will be monitored by the LEAs.
Strict measures are being taken to control the law and order situation in Peshawar and Quetta. Similar arrangements have been made for the occasion in Parachinar too.
