Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairman Muhammad Enver Baig has said the institution was in the process of revisiting and redesigning its graduation schemes.
In a meeting with USAID Mission Director Gregory C Gottlieb, he said that he was looking forward for a long term relationship with USAID in improving BISP.
The chairman lauded the contribution of USAID in helping the poorest of the poor segments in Pakistan and also appreciated its collaboration in the Unconditional Cash Transfer initiative of BISP.
The chairman further stated that BISP will continue providing support through unconditional cash transfer to its beneficiaries with the key objective to graduate as many families out of the poverty trap and make them stand on their own feet.
“BISP will also expand the Unconditional Cash Transfer to more identified families gradually,” the chairman said.
Baig also informed the mission director that under the directives issued by the prime minister, monthly stipend was raised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1200.
The mission director congratulated Baig on his appointment as the BISP chairman and stated that USAID was expanding its work on nutrition and health care in Pakistan for which they will work with BISP and provide all necessary support to BISP. He lauded the services of the chairman and assured full cooperation of USAID to BISP in future.
