Chief ofArmy Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has reiterated full support to the government-led ongoing peace process but emphasised that terrorist attacks will not be tolerated and will be responded to effectively.
The COAS visited the corps headquarters in Peshawar on Saturday. According to a press release, Gen Raheel laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada upon his arrival and paid tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend their motherland. The army chief was also briefed in detail at the Corps Headquarters about various operations, trainings and administrative matters.
The army chief appreciated the resolve displayed by the officers and men during the fight against terrorism and bringing stability to the militancy-hit areas.
Appreciating the infrastructure, building and reconstruction work being undertaken by the army for socio-economic benefit of the local population of FATA and Malakand, the COAS instructed all concerned to ensure quality and timely completion of these projects.
Earlier, on his arrival in Peshawar, the COAS was received by Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani.
