Tribesmen on Friday retrieved bodies from Mirali and shifted the injured to hospitals.
Tribesmen said that the death toll rose to 40 after security forces took action against militants in the wake of a suicide attack in Kajhoori on Wednesday. They said that a woman and her two daughters were amongst those killed.
Latest report reveals that three tribesmen were killed after their vehicle came under firing of security forces. They violated the curfew hours.
The reports from Mirali region reveal that the administration has relaxed curfew hours from 11am until 2pm during which the tribesmen retrieved the bodies and shifted the injured to hospitals. The tribesmen counted 16 injured and some of them were shifted to Divisional Headquarters Hospital Bannu.
The tribesmen in Mirali confirmed the attack on security forces during a search operation after Wednesday suicide attack. Three militants, including an Uzbek associated with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, was involved in the attack. Later, he along with his accomplices was killed by security forces.
Soon after the retaliatory action of security forces, a large number of militants, mostly foreigners and Punjabi Taliban slipped to Data Khel, Darpakhel and Miranshah regions of North Waziristan.
The local militants held a meeting in Mirali on Friday and denounced the clashes. They decided to probe the incident.
Meanwhile, students from North Waziristan Agency (NWA) staged a protest demonstration against security forces outside the Governor’s House and Peshawar Press Club. The protesters shouted slogans against the government and security forces for carrying out the operation in Mirali.
