Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday refused to take back his word ‘tamasha,’ stating that the word was not ‘unparliamentary’.
Speaking on the floor of National Assembly, Nisar said that the word ‘tamasha’ (drama) has been used for 45 times in the parliament for the past five years and no one had objected to it before.
The minister had used the word for describing how a party had turned the issue of vote verification in to a gimmick in an assembly session on Wednesday.
Opposition parties, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Pakistan People’s Party had demanded that Nisar take back the word or they will continue their ongoing boycott of the National Assembly.
Nisar refused their demands saying,“Some members of the opposition want to hold the assembly hostage.”
Meanwhile, the opposition has announced to continue their boycott on Nisar’s refusal.
