Anti-Terrorism Special Court on Friday approved two-day physical remand of 26 suspects allegedly involved in the November 16 riots in the city.

Rawalpindi ATC judge Rana Masood Akhtar heard the case against suspects allegedly involved in the sectarian carnage on Ashura.

After hearing arguments by lawyers and approving of the remand, the court handed over the suspects to the police. The suspects were accused under the charges of vandalism and destruction in the wake of the incident.

Violence erupted in the garrison town when an Ashura procession coincided with a sermon at a nearby mosque in Raja Bazaar area.
