PMDC bans admission into lone state-run dental college in IBD
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has imposed ban on new admissions into Federal Medical and Dental College (FMDC), the lone state run dental college in federal capital for lacking teaching staff and other facilities.
In the backdrop of these ban orders, admissions of one hundred students who have come on merit list for the academic session 2013-14 stand cancelled.
National Testing Service had uploaded merit list of these 100 students on its respective website who had succeeded in entry test for seeking admission to this college. The merit list contained 16 successful students from Sindh, 40 from Punjab, 9 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 10 from federal capital, 2 each from Gilgit, Baltistan, AJK and FATA while 9 students had got admission against the quota of government employees.
PMDC took the decision of banning admission into this college in its meeting on account of shortage of teaching staff and lack of facilities therein.
Sources said only one professor and three assistant professors are working in the college and demonstrators have been deployed to conduct the classes.
The students have voiced protest against cancellation of their admissions and demanded of government to intervene in the affairs of college to save their educational career. The ban orders have also sent a wave of despair and panic among the first year and second year students of the college.
