Minister says strict monitoring being devised to make anti-polio campaign more effective
Minister of State for National Health Services, Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar on Wednesday said strict monitoring system was being devised to make anti-polio campaign more effective.
Talking to a delegation of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which called on her here, the Minister said she is personally monitoring the immunization and polio campaigns.
She said National Emergency Action Plan for Polio was also being implemented.
Saira Afzal Tarar said since the Ministry was successful and encouraging results of recent polio campaign of the administration of drops to children was ensured to 99 % in Federal Capital.
The Minister said the government was giving priority to eradication of polio and all resources were being utilized for health of children and health care. She asked all stakeholders and private sector to contribute in this regard.
The Minister said her Ministry would cooperate with provinces and other concerning departments in polio complain and there would be zero tolerance for negligence during the polio campaign.
Moreover, she said effective steps would be taken for administering polio drops in remote as well as Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The delegation appreciated efforts in monitoring and personal interest of the Minister for eradication of polio. The Foundation reiterated its commitment to support Pakistan in area of child healthcare.
