The Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway-1 has been opened for traffic by the National Highway and Motorway Police following an improvement of visibility and overall weather condition.
A Spokesman of Motorway Police told APP that Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway
(M-I) has been opened for traffic at 9:50 am today after visibility improved and traffic was diverted from GT road to Motorway for facilitation of general public.
He said the Motorway was closed for few hours last night due to dense
fog and zero visibility on Peshawar-Swabi section.
Peshawar-Burhan section was also opened for traffic, he said, adding
that traffic was plying on the Motorway smoothly.
He said it would be premature to suggest that whether the M-I would be
closed tonight and will depend upon the weather condition.
He urged the motorists to remain careful while driving on motorway
especially during night and maintain lane discipline in their own interest.
He said we are in close touch with Meteorological Department to monitor
weather conditions and people would be informed accordingly.
