Police says Mandi Mor, surrounding areas have become den of criminals

Mandi Mor, Pirwadhai and its surrounding areas have become dens of dacoits and thieves, despite protests of the residents and traders and tall claims of police.

The incidents of mugging traders and residents in early morning are on the rise and police have failed to control the criminal activities.

Recently, a trader namely Baqir Hussain, resident of Chungi No 22, was robbed near Mandi Mor when he was on his way to buy vegetables and fruit for his shop on wee hours of Wednesday. He claimed to be deprived of around Rs50,000, mobile and other valuables. He was also thrashed by the robbers on resistance.

Dwellers of Pirwadhai and surrounding areas said that they have protested against the rising incidents of robberies and mobile snatching and higher officials of police assured them of curbing the crime but no practical action has been taken so far. They further said that most of the persons involved in the criminal activities in their locality were Afghans.

Similarly, residents of I-10 and I-9 sectors also expressed concerns over the increasing street crimes, saying that dwellers of katchi basti in Sector I-11/4 are involved in the anti-social activities. They also held Islamabad police responsible for the situation, saying the inadequate patrolling was providing the criminals opportunity to carry out their nefarious designs.

The residents and traders demanded of the high ups of district administration and police to devise a comprehensive strategy to maintain order in Mandi Mor, Pirwadhai and surrounding areas.
