Mobile services were suspended in Gilgit early on Wednesday after the death toll from incidents of violence reached three.
Fear and panic have gripped the area since Monday because of the killings.
The residents of the area are also facing trouble with accessing internet, however, no government official could be reached for confirmation due to communication problems.
Deputy Commissioner Shahbaz Tahir said that security forces are working on a plan to curb violence and the suspension of mobile services is a part of it. The official did not disclose details of the plan.
Tahir said the authorities are taking action against the trouble makers and that the writ of the government will be restored in the area.
The country is becoming more and more unsafe because we have been tolerating nonsense. What we need is a no tolerance policy towards all those who disturbs the public peace no compromises. The courts have to play a leading role in all this we now have a new CJ and now wish that the judiciary play its role. In case the judiciary fails to play its role then all the efforts put in by the masses would be in vain and that will be very sad for then the very basic cohesion of the society will be at stake.
