Abbas, Muavia’s killers will be brought to book: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that restoration of peace is among the top priorities of the government and stressed the need for intelligence sharing system to achieve the desired results.

Shahbaz, while chairing a high level meeting to review the law and order situation in the province on Tuesday, said that peace was the top priority of the government as country’s development and resolution of problems faced by countrymen were directly related to it.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, chief secretary, Punjab IG, home secretary and other high officials.

The chief minister directed the authorities concerned for making foolproof security arrangements for Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri and chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). He also directed for ensuring tight security on the occasion of Christmas.

Shahbaz assured that murderers of Shamasur Rehman Muavia and Allama Nasir Abbas would be brought to book and awarded exemplary punishment.

He said that no political leader or party could independently deal with the crises faced by the country and entire nation would have to gather at single platform for thwarting the conspiracies being hatched to hurt the stability and sovereignty of the country. He was of the view that it was not time to rouse the unneeded and controversial issues but to join hands in the larger interests of country and its people.

The chief minister also stressed the needed for unity, promoting religious harmony and joint efforts to take the country out of prevailing situation.

 

CABINET COMMITTEE MEETING ON PRICE CONTROL: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Price Control to review prices and demand and supply of essential commodities which lasted more than three hours.

Shahbaz said that 141 Sastay Sahulat Bazaars have been established in the province where food items of high quality are available at cheaper rate. He said that implementation of the comprehensive mechanism for controlling prices of daily use items would be continued in future as well while supply of quality essential items to the masses at cheaper rates would be ensured at any cost.

Addressing the elected representatives and administrative machinery in the meeting, the chief minister said that efforts for reducing prices of essential commodities have proved fruitful. He said that Punjab government has taken steps with determination, courage and honesty for providing relief to common man which should be continued in future as well.

Elected representatives, while paying tributes to the chief minister on his effective steps for reducing the prices of essential commodities, said that when Shahbaz takes any responsibility, he fulfills it. They said that this was only Shahbaz who has activated his team for price control mechanism and the people are appreciating the measures taken by Shahbaz for reducing the prices of essential items.
