Resolution against Molla hanging passed in NA

A resolution was passed in the National Assembly on Monday against the execution of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla, local news channels reported.

The resolution offered condolences to the supporters and family of the executed JI leader.

The resolution was passed with majority in the NA. It demanded that the Bangladesh Government should refrain from reviving the issues of 1971 and should end cases against the JI leaders.

The resolution was tabled by MNA Sher Akbar Khan from Jamat-e-Islami.

The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan announced government’s approval to the resolution.

“We respect independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh but there should be a policy of forgive and forget,” he said.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) opposed the Jamaat-e-Islami’s resolution.

Bangladesh executed the JI leader on conviction of mass murder and rape during the 1971 war.
