Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is heading the meeting of National Security Committee on Tuesday.
The meeting is being attended by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff and the heads of the three armed forces as well as the federal ministers for defence, information and finance.
Also present at the gathering are PM adviser on security and high officials of interior ministry and ministry of foreign affairs.
According to sources, the meeting will include a briefing on national security matters by the Director General of Military Operations as well as a review of the newly proposed national security policy including the strategy for talks with the Taliban.
Earlier, a one on one meeting was held between the PM and COAS where they discussed their views on an overall national situation.
