Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Memon has said the provincial government will ensure transparency in local bodies election and no one will be allowed to occupy the polling station as some parties did in general elections.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Sharjeel Memon claimed that the LB polls would be held in better environment and no one would be able to raise finger over their transparency.
He blamed that during the past elections some political forces occupied the polling stations forcefully and rigged the polls to get favourable results but the forged practice would not be allowed anymore.
The provincial minister said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) continued its tradition of raising unneeded issue by opposing the Sindh Local Government Act (SLGA) which was approved by the assembly by consensus.
Sharjeel Memon assured that the PPP-led provincial government did not want confrontation, misunderstandings and it would call the Sindh Assembly session on the request of MQM for holding debate on the SLGA.
He questioned that how the MQM termed the two ordinances of the three which were undersigned by its governor as illegal and unconstitutional.
Those who were making hue and cry over the local government ordinance had willingly accepted the unconstitutional steps of a dictator, he maintained. Sharjeel said the MQM protest over the SLGA revealed it had accepted defeat in advance.
