Curtains fall on the 4th Kabaddi World Cup 2013 as India beat Pakistan in the final on Saturday evening.

The chief guests of the event were the chief ministers of Indian and Pakistani Punjab.

Pakistan, who had stormed into the final after decimating the American team, were beaten by India 48-39 at the Guru Nanak stadium in Ludhiana, India.

The win means India retain their world title.

Prior to the match, Pakistan Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif had said that “if India wins, it means Pakistan’s neighbour has won and we will congratulate you. If Pakistan wins, your [India] neighbour wins, and you can congratulate us.”

Earlier, the men’s team had stormed into the 4th Kabaddi World Cup final, thrashing USA 51-33 in their semi-final on Wednesday in India.

The triumph was another feather in Pakistan’s cap in the ongoing campaign; they were the only team besides the hosts to remain unbeaten in the competition so far.

The national team won all five matches in their Group B that had Canada, England, Sierra Leone, Scotland and Denmark.
