China will be attempting to land its first lunar rover on the moon on Saturday according to the state’s TV channel.
The landing will be a major breakthrough in China’s space program which launched had recently blasted off the Chang’e-3 mission on a Long March-3B carrier rocket.
If the mission is successful, China will become the third country, following USA and former USSR to carry out a rover mission.
“China’s lunar probe Chang’e-3 is expected to land on the moon at 21:40 BJT (Beijing Time) on Saturday,” a statement by the state broadcaster read on a social networking account.
The landing will be broadcast live on the state channel.
