Musharraf’s trial: summoned on Dec 24, ATC tells to tighten security

A special court has issued a summon on Friday to the former President Musharraf to appear in court on December 24 for the hearing of the treason case filed against him.

The court bench was headed by Justice Faisal Arbab  who reviewed the charge sheet prepared by the federal administration against the former dictator.

According to the statement by the special court registrar, the bench reviewed the complaint of the federal government to initiate a treason case against the former president under Article 6 of the constitution.

In the hearing of the judges detention case on Friday,  Musharraf was granted an exemption from court appearance by Islamabad Anti Terrorist Court. The court also issued orders to the administration to improve security of the former president, reported a private news channel.

ATC special court judge Atiq ur Rehman headed the bench for the hearing of the judges’ detention case filed against Musharraf.

Musharraf’s advocate Ilyas Siddiqui requested his exemption from today’s case hearing, due to security concerns, which was granted by the court.

An official from the interior ministry informed the court of a secure location being accessed for the trial of the former president who faces life threats from various groups.

The court ordered for improved security measures for Musharraf and adjourned the hearing to Dec 20.

Govt should give a saner thought to his decision.
