Javed sahab discharged from hospital, but advised to be in Delhi for treatment.
Javed Akhtar was recently admitted to the spinal hospital in Delhi due to a severe back problem. His wife Shabana Azmi had rushed to Delhi and cancelled all the programmes she had committed to in India and overseas to nurse him while in hospital.
As luck would have it, he was discharged on his 29th wedding anniversary on December 9, but, of course, has been advised to remain in Delhi for a few days until his back completely recovers.
An excited Shabanaji said, “You know, we had our friends over on our anniversary and everyone was talking and no one listening. While Javed was taking his hydrotherapy in hospital, I told him he was floating like Prem Chopra in a Hindi film. Javed immediately said to me, ‘You don’t look like Mona darling.’ I am looking forward to bringing him back home in Mumbai soon.”
