Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani claimed on Friday of being immune from an arrest in relation to the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam while talking to the media in his constituency in Multan.
According to Gillani, he had given up his chair as the executive head for the sake of the president’s immunity and now the section one of Article 248 of the Constitution gives him immunity and no one can arrest him.
Gillani questioned how the NAB chairman can summon him for an investigation when he is himself being summoned for enquiries.
Gilani had been summoned to appear before the NAB joint investigation team for the NICL scam. The former premier has been alleged of illegal transfer of the investigation officer in the scandal.
