The Sindh government Thursday assured the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of holding local government (LG) elections in the province on January 18, 2014.
During a meeting at the ECP office, Sindh chief secretary and local government secretary assured the commission that the elections will be held on the date fixed by Supreme Court (SC).
Both the senior officials also proposed to the commission to issue the election schedule a month prior to the elections, on December 18.
Earlier during a meeting on Wednesday, Sindh advocate general had requested for a day’s time to consult with the chief minister on the issue.
