One Rangers official killed, seven injured in Landhi

A Rangers official was killed and seven others injured in a bomb attack on Thursday.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the terrorists attacked a patrol truck near 89 Exchange area of Landhi.
Landhi has this week been under special focus of the law enforcement agencies with Rangers having recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the crime-infested neighbourhood.
On Tuesday, the Rangers raided Landhi besides Yousaf Goth, New Karachi Sector 5/A-4, Mominabad, Khadda Market, Phool Patti Lane, Baghdadi, Chakiwara and Kikri Ground – Lyari, Badar Chowk – Orangi, Pak Colony, Bakra Piri, Lines Area, Chanesar Goth, Majeed Colony, Karnal Basti, Bhittai Colony, Mehran Town, Lassi Goth, Gulshan e Zia, Dastagir, Pakistan Chowk, Ittehad Town, Malir Khokrapar, Shah Faisal Colony and Bajori Para.
In the raids, the Rangers claimed to have arrested 32 hardened criminals. They also claimed to have seized weapons from them.
On Monday, the Rangers spokesman announced to have conducted an intelligence driven targeted raids in Landhi Number 5. The law enforcers claimed to have seized a huge cache of weapons, including two light machine guns, a G-3 rifle, seven short machine guns, an 8mm rifle, a 7mm rifle, two 303 rifles, a shotgun and ammo.
He said these actions had made the terrorists frustrated to hit back on Thursday.
In the attack, Sepoy Pandhi Khan died. “Initially seven Rangers personnel got injured while one official namely Sepoy Pandhi Khan embraced Shahdat,” confirmed the spokesman.
He said the explosives were planted in a motorcycle. “It is once again reiterated that this cowardly act is testimony of the effectiveness of Rangers targeted operations,” maintained the spokesman.
This, he added, reflected clearly the level of frustration “criminals and their collaborators” had owing to the law enforcers’ ongoing clampdown against them.
“These cowardly acts can not deter our resolve to fight crime and terrorism in the city,” the spokesman vowed.
The deceased official hailed from village Kalario of District Tharparkar. The 26-years-old was born to Mehboob on April 7, 1987. He is survived by a wife.
