Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday stopped Skill Development Council (SDC) chairman from working. However, the court allowed chairman to handle matters relating to employees salaries.

Justice Muhammad Khaild Mehmood Khan passed the orders on a petition filed by IB Bahuddin Zakaria Paramedical Services challenging appointment of the SDC chairman.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel, informing the court that the SDC comprised of a chairman and ten members, alleged that the Labour Ministry had appointed the chairman alone whereas members were not appointed as per rules and regulations.

The counsel contended that the appointment of chairman alone was against the rules and regulations. He pleaded the court to set aside chairman’s appointment and also requested to stop SDC chairman from work till the decision of the petition.

The court after hearing the arguments stopped chairman from work and also sought a reply from the Labour Ministry.
