Guinness World Record for longest ever Christmas cracker chain

A staggering 749 people link together to each pull a cracker at the same time.

Office workers in Birmingham claim to have broken the Guinness World Record for the longest Christmas cracker chain.

A staggering 749 people linked together to each pull a cracker at the same time smashing the previous World Record of 603 which was set in November.

The office workers pulled together to set the new record when they snaked around Oozells Square, Brindley Place, Birmingham.

Organiser Lydia Ellis, 34, said: “Everyone crossed hands and pulled, just like people would around a table at Christmas time.

“The record hasn’t been officially verified at the moment but we are hoping it will be within the next six weeks, we are quite confident that we have smashed the record.

“It feels great to do this and bring the community together, we have never done anything like this before and it is a way to get the festive spirit going in Birmingham.

“We are so very proud of everyone involved in this cracker pull and want to say a big thank you and well done to all the people who attended and pulled.”
