The Interior Ministry on Wednesday formed two teams to try former president Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution.
The two bodies, constitution and prosecution, will be headed by Dr Tariq Hassan and Nasiruddin Khan respectively. Both of the teams will be working under the supervision of Akram Sheikh.
The constitution team will comprise of 10 lawyers while the prosecution team has 11 members. A notification in this regard has also been issued by the ministry.
Earlier, the federal government finalised the charge sheet against Musharraf. A private TV channel reported that the nine-page charge sheet pressed five charges, including November 3 emergency, detention of judges and implementation of PCO. The federation will show the details of his orders as proof in the court.
A formal complaint will be filed in a special court earlier formed to try Musharraf under Article 6. The government has not mentioned any co-accused in the charge sheet.
The interior secretary will act as the complainant and authorise the FIA DG to file the complaint, sources said.
A three-member special court, comprising of Sindh High Court Justice Faisal Arab, Balochistan High Court Justice Tahira Safdar and Lahore High Court Justice Yawar Ali was formed by former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry at the request of the government under the Criminal Law Amendment (Special Court) Act 1976.
