Sindh’s Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday moved the Sindh High Court against the decision of an election tribunal to conduct voter’s thumb verification process in NA-215 and PS-29 constituencies of the province’s Khairpur district.

Pakistan Muslim League leader Syed Ghaus Ali Shah had submitted a petition against the election of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Nawab Ali Wassan to the NA-215 and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to PS-29.

The Karachi election tribunal on December 6 ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to carry out verification of thumb impressions of voters on entire ballots on a provincial assembly seat PS-29.

Moreover, the SHC rejected a request by the PML- F and upheld the earlier decision of a tribunal to conduct a verification of votes in NA-202 constituency of the Shikarpur area.

Winner of the constituency, PML-F’s Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Jatoi, had challenged the election tribunal’s order regarding verification of thumb impressions of the voters in his constituency.
