South African president Nelson Mandela’s body has been shifted to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to lie in state for three days where it will be viewed by the public and invited heads of states.

His remains were shifted from the hospital mortuary to the union buildings in a coffin draped in South African flag, in the form of a procession where people lined the whole route, honoring the leader.

Mandela passed away at the age of 95 on 5th December.

Following the commemorations, his funeral will be held at his native village Qunu in Eastern Cape province on Sunday.

Tens of thousands of South Africans joined scores of world leaders for a national memorial service on Tuesday.

  1. As the thousands go to bid farewell to Madiba, lets hope that our people DO NOT repeat yesterdays behaviour. We need to show the world that all Madiba's teachings etc did not go in vain. We are being watch by millions all over the globe and in respect of the world's ICON, we need to be the best. Let us all take not even a page but a line or paragraph from His book and better ourselves. if one man can touch millions imagine what millions can do. We all need to change and THAT would keep Madiba smiling.
