Current debate on NATO supply and PTI ‘dharna’ makes me sick to stomach. Especially, the arguments by our PML-N brethren, the likes of Saad Rafique, Khurram Dastgir, Khwaja Asif, who I consider saner minds compared the crack heads like Abid Sher Ali and Sanaullah are mind boggling. I heard similar arguments from Dr Salaman Shah and Gen Mueen Haider that because we take aid from US and NATO, we should surrender unconditionally to any drone attacks.
One, I believe that they would only see problems with this when a drone hits home, I mean somewhere in Punjab or Islamabad. KP is too far to feel the pain or any ‘ghairat’ for that matter. Second, if we accept their (PML-N plus the liberal elite) argument, if someone is supporting a poor man’s family, he should be allowed to screw the poor man’s family any time in any way for he gets the right by the way of his financial help to the family. Similarly, if a poor girl gets gang rapped by powerful others, she should just keep quiet as it is foolish to stand up against the powerful and mighty. Now at times I wish that we have a drone strike in Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi so that these bozos wake up. There is no other way we will understand that in some instances ‘ghairat’ is above money and the power of your opponent.
