Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen said the Punjab government has taken effective steps to check an artificial price hike of vegetables, fruits and other commodities besides ensuring relief to the masses. Addressing a press conference on Monday, the minister said ‘sahulat baazars’ would be held three days in a week where 20kg flour bag would be available at Rs 765. He said that honest and hardworking price control magistrates have been appointed while some officers with bad repute in market committees have been sacked. Prices are being monitored by special branch secretly, he added. Yaseen said that encroachments were removed and cleanliness had been improved in the markets. He urged the media to flash commodity rates on TV.
