The administration of Punjab University handed over 15 illegal residents to the police after a search operation in hostels 15 and 18 on Tuesday, as reported by a private TV channel.
It was learnt that the university administration had decided along with the Punjab Government and the law enforcement agencies to carry out an operation to clean up the university hostels from illegal occupants.
The joint strategy came up in the wake of the reports that suspected terrorist were either residing in the hostels acting as students or were regular visitors there.
This year, an Al-Qaeda suspect was arrested from Hostel 1 of Punjab University in September.
