The provincial government is capable of holding local bodies elections in a week but it does not want to spoil the purpose of the polls by making any haste in this regard, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on his visit to Larkana on Sunday.

He was monitoring the arrangements for the death anniversary of slain Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto where he revealed that PPP’s Patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will address the ceremony.

The CM said that Bilawal has stepped into practical politics and there are chances that he may run for by-elections from any suitable constituency.

He stressed upon the need of holding LB polls in Punjab and Sindh on the same day, and said that all political parties should be awarded time to prepare for election.

Qaim Ali Shah lauded the cooperation of political parties in favor of targeted operation and said that Karachi is facing deteriorating law and order situation for the last 25 years but on-going targeted operations against the criminals has improved the situation.
