The Pakistan Textile City Limited company and Karachi Water and Sewage Board have rejected a news item published in Pakistan Today regarding the project.

In a statement, they said that the story gave an impression that the project has gone into jeopardy because of non-cooperation of the Government of Pakistan towards the release of funds, while the situation is the other way round. It said that although the project had been stopped for some time, work on it has resumed and the federal government has allocated its share for the PSDP 2013-14 out of which the first quarter has been released.

The statement said that the Sindh chief minister had recently been apprised of the progress of the project and he had agreed to share the 50 percent cost of the revised PC-1. “The federal and Sindh governments are on the same page regarding the completion of the project which is of vital importance for the economy of Pakistan,” the statement said.

The statement also deplored the fact that the report concerned had not sought the version of either of the two parties on the issue.
