Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that the Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) is an anti-protection ordinance and they would not accept it.

Talking to media in his chambers on Tuesday, Khursheed Shah said the 18th amendment would not be reviewed nor any compromise would be made on the provincial autonomy.

He said there were some legal lacunas in 18th amendment and they were ready to sit with the govt for its improvement, however, they would not allow undoing it.

Shah also criticised the government over inflation and said the inflation rate had entered into double digit of 11percent, however, during their tenure it was 7.6 and forex reserves were at the lowest ever ebb. The present government had printed Rs 800 billion in six months while in 2012 they had printed just 480 billion, he added.

He said the petrol prices were going down worldwide but here in Pakistan the situation was quite opposite as the prices had been increased manifold which was unintelligible.

In response to a question, he said the PTI had made no contact with them regarding their protest tomorrow in front of the Parliament House regarding drone attacks.

He said the issue of missing persons was between the PM, COAS and intelligence agencies and all efforts should be made to recover the missing persons. Regarding NICL judgment, Khursheed Shah said the party as well as Amin Fahim was reviewing the judgment.

On the local bodies polls, he said the election commission should fix March 15 as the date for holding polls and should take written assurance from provinces.

He welcomed the government money whitening initiative and said the PPP-led government too had taken a decision in this regard but then opposition had opposed it.
