The shura of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is going to hold a meeting in the wake of Mullah Fazlullah’s arrival from Afghanistan.
Date and venue of the meeting is not finalized, but sources believe, “It can be held without any announcement on security grounds.”
Sources told Pakistan Today that Fazlullah and his 20 aides reached in North Waziristan. Fazlullah also known as Mullah Radio, become chief of the TTP after Hakimullah Mehsud was killed in a US drone attack at Danday Darpakhel on November 1.
According to sources, the shura, with Mullah Radio in the chair, is likely to frame its future strategy. The meeting will also discuss the government’s offer for peace talks.
Sources said that tribal elders, former intelligence, civil and military officials have been assigned to bring new TTP leaders to the table. Though the militants are reluctant to declare a ceasefire before entering into negotiation process with government, but some analysts claimed that two sides were engaged in preparations in this regard.
Sources also said that the Taliban were likely to increase volume of demands before embarking on negotiation process. Slain TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud and his aides had demanded that the government recruit all militants in security forces. Similarly the TTP also demanded the release of around 5,000 militants imprisoned in various jails and reasonable compensation to families and heirs of all those who were killed in the military operations.
Mehsud had urged the government to adjust from 25,000 to 40,000 militants in security forces throughout the country.
