Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Tuesday vowed to continue blockage of NATO supplies until drone strikes by United States are not stopped.
Addressing to PTI workers participating in sit-in at Peshawar’s Ring road toll plaza, Imran Khan said his party workers would not be exhausted and would continue their sit-in to block NATO supplies permanently until end of drone attacks.
He advised the participants to continue their protest peacefully and without taking law and order in their hand. Khan also directed the workers not to stop trucks of Afghan transit goods.
PTI chief also invited federal government to block NATO supplies.
He said it was time for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to become a leader and take a stand on drone strikes.
Khan said the nation would stand with Nawaz if he took a stand against drone strikes. He said peace could only be achieved once drone strikes were stopped. “The PTI will go to every extent to stop drone attacks.” The PTI chairman said the passage of Nato supplies through KPK would not be allowed until drone attack are stopped permanently.
Khan said all those political parties that previously agreed to join them in protests against drone strikes are not there to block NATO supply lines.
“Almost all the political parties have dual policy over drone attacks,” he said while addressing a sit-in in Peshawar. People would no more accept such policies, he said.
He said the political parties had agreed to join the PTI-led protest against drone attacks, but no party other than coalition partners were backing the PTI in blocking the NATO supplies. Imran Khan’s party has blocked NATO supplies for last 11 days to protest against drone strikes.
The PTI chairman said that his party members would not let the NATO supplies move through KP at any cast. The motive of abandoning the NATO supplies was to restore peace in the country, he added.
“We do not want war with the US, but we also don’t want to be their slave,” Imran said.
According to the party’s stance, the drone attack that killed TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud was an attempt to sabotage proposed peace talks with the militants. “The US did not want peace in Pakistan,” he added.
On corruption, Khan said, “Corruption is the main reason of inflation and price hike in the country and the PTI will eradicate corruption. If any of the KP minister is found involved in corruption, he will be made accountable as corruption is intolerable.”
