Six including two KU students gunned down

Two students of the Karachi University (KU) identified as Shadab Hussain, 27, and his friend, Hamza Naushad, 27, were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them near Maskan Chowrangi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal area of the city.

As the firing incident continued, more than 20 passersby including women also came under its influence and received injuries.

The students were taken to a nearby hospital but they could not survive. Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

FOUR PERSONS KILLED:

The blood trodden Karachi lost four more lives on Saturday, as at least four other persons got killed in separate incidents of violence.

The deceased also include a robber who was killed and several others injured in different localities of the city.

On the other hand, police arrested several culprits including three accused involved in target killing and extortion.

In Baldia Town, police recovered beheaded and tortured dead bodies of a couple from a house.

In Safora Chourangi area, unknown culprits opened fire at a head constable of crime branch identified as Shah Muhammad, killing him on the spot and fled the scene.

Furthermore, a criminal Javed alias Bangali was killed in exchange of fire with police in Lyari Aagra Taj Colony.

AVCC, CID CRACKDOWN:

The Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and CID police during joint crackdown arrested three accused involved in the target killing of 12 persons and receiving extortion money from the citizens. DIG Sultan Khwaja said that the accused used foreign SIMs for demanding extortion money.

Meanwhile, East Zone police during separate raids and operations arrested 23 criminals from different localities and recovered arms, hand grenades and drugs from their possession.

Two accused involved in street crimes were arrested by Garden Town police.
