Punjab under terrorist threat

The federal government has reportedly sent a letter to the Punjab government stating that at least 16 suicide bombers belonging to Haqqani Network have entered in different cities of the province to carry out terrorism activities during Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS)’s chehlum ceremonies on Safar 20.
As a result, the Punjab government has directed all the districts governments of the province to ensure strict security.
According to sources, intelligence agencies warned the government that suicide attacks could take place in key cities of Punjab during Chehlum. Reports say that security has been beefed up in Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Jhang, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
It has also been directed by the government to check all vehicles including public transports at entry and exit points of the cities, adding that luggage of passengers should be checked during travelling.
The Punjab government has also directed the authorities to ensure strict security at public places, bus stops, imambargahs, mosques and others sensitive areas.
TARGET KILLERS NABBED: Two men involved in cases of target killing and kidnapping for ransom in Karachi were arrested by the police at Thokar Niaz Baig on Monday.
The arrested have been identified as Mehmood Ansari and Aslam alias Doctor. The accused have been arrested on a tip-off from their partner Nadeem Mullah, who was arrested two days ago from the same locality.
