Police negligence behind Rawalpindi tragedy

Fact-finding committee probing Rawalpindi incident which left 12 people dead on Muharram 10 has submitted its initial report to Punjab government on Monday.

The initial reports have revealed that Rawalpindi tragedy was a result of negligence of the police.

The fact-finding committee headed by Najam Saeed, formed to investigate Rawalpindi incident, has completed its investigation and after compiling a final report was submitted to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

According to sources, the committee recorded statement of more than 40 people including police officers, regional police officer, city police officer, Operations senior superintendent of police, Security superintendent of police (SP), Rawal Town SP, CIA SP and Traffic SP.

The committee also recorded statements of commissioner and Rawalpindi DCO.
