Is it really the last warning, Mr CM? CM asks police to curb crimes in 2 weeks or face the music; says Sindh police to get more than 3000 policemen

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah warned the Hyderabad DIG and SSP to curb the criminal activities in the city and division within two weeks, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.

He was holding a meeting on law and order at the Circuit House where he said that he has been receiving persistent complaints from the public and media about the increase in street crimes, robberies and kidnappings for ransom in Hyderabad but no considerable action seemed to have been taken so far against the criminals.

He said that the deteriorated law and order conditions are giving a bad name to the present Sindh government and it would not be tolerated at any cost.

He further said that an annual allocation of Rs 42 billions has been made only for the Sindh Police to maintain law and order and shortly, Sindh police  will get more than 3000 police personnel including 600 sub-inspectors along with sophisticated weapons and vehicles.

The CM said that Rangers can also be provided to Hyderabad Police in case it is required to maintain the law and order in Hyderabad.

He said that the government considers itself a custodian of the lives and property of the people and sternly asked the police officers to transform Hyderabad city into a peaceful city and division on a permanent basis rather than taking temporary steps.

He directed the Hyderabad DIG Police and SSP to report to him about their performance and also asked the commissioner to submit his report so that the performance of police can be verified.

While expressing his dissatisfaction and displeasure over the lack of cleanliness and inefficient sewerage system in Hyderabad city, the Sindh CM also warned the HMC administrator to make the city neat and clean with an efficient cleaning and drainage system within two weeks or face the music.

He said that once Hyderabad used to be a very peaceful, clean and beautiful city but due to the apathy of officials its condition has deteriorated.

He said that during the last five years, the government spent Rs 12 billion for the development of Hyderabad and Rs 47 billion on the development of Karachi city.

He further directed the administrator to ensure special cleanliness drives in the city on permanent basis.

He asked the public representatives to propose such development schemes for Hyderabad that this city’s old glories could be revived.

He also directed the Hyderabad police to regulate the traffic system in the city and facilitate the people accordingly.

The meeting was attended by DIG Akram Broka, SSP Fida Hussain Mastoi, Commissioner Jamal Mustafa Syed, DC Mohammad Nawaz Sohu, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Fayyaz Shah, Aftab Khanzada.
